Our Vision

Welcome to Queer Spaces Atlanta, your online museum dedicated to preserving the vibrant stories and rich histories of the LGBTQ+ community in the City of Atlanta. Our mission is to collect, safeguard, and exhibit narratives of queer significance, ensuring that the diverse voices and experiences within our community are celebrated and remembered for generations to come.

Originating as a GIS mapping initiative, Queer Spaces Atlanta was born out of the necessity to document and protect disappearing and threatened queer landmarks across the city. However, our vision has expanded beyond mere preservation; we have evolved into a holistic historical repository, encompassing a wide array of narratives, artifacts, and memories that contribute to the tapestry of queer Atlanta.

At Queer Spaces Atlanta, we believe that every story matters. Whether it's the tale of a historic gay bar, the activism of a pioneering LGBTQ+ organization, or the personal journey of an individual, each narrative adds depth and richness to our collective understanding of Atlanta's queer history. Through our digital exhibits, educational resources, and community outreach efforts, we strive to illuminate the past, inspire the present, and shape the future of queer Atlanta.

Join us on this journey of discovery, celebration, and remembrance. Together, let's honor the resilience, creativity, and diversity of the LGBTQ+ community in Atlanta, and ensure that our stories continue to shine brightly in the fabric of our city's history. Welcome to Queer Spaces Atlanta.
